October 11th, International day of the Girl, highlights the importance of equal rights and opportunities for girls worldwide. While many countries celebrate this day, millions of girls in Afghanistan remain deprived of their most basic human rights. Over the past four years under Taliban rule, more than 2.2 million girls in Afghanistan have been denied education, and forced and underage marriages have risen alarmingly.
This is a human tragedy that the world must not ignore. We call on all countries, international bodies, and human rights organizations to take concrete actions and apply effective pressure to stand with Afghanistan women and girls and work to eliminate the discrimination and restrictions imposed on them.
The Women and Children Research and Advocacy Network is committed to bringing the voices of Afghanistan girls to the global stage and actively pursuing equality and justice. We believe that through unity, solidarity, and persistent advocacy, a just and equal future can be created for all girls worldwide, especially Afghanistan women and girls.
